Ulrich Rois is a scholar and musician based in Vienna, Austria. Born in 1982, Rois studied comparative literature and musicology at the University of Vienna. He graduated in 2008 with a master thesis on the representation of the Fisher King myth in modern literature. Since then his scholarly work has primarily been focused on Beat literature, especially the relationship between text and sound in the works of the Beat writers. As a musician, Rois works both in the fields of minimal music and drone as well as an improvisation-heavy take on old time music.
