The Prolonged Death of the Hippie, 1967–1969
Keynote speakers Ed Sanders and Anne Waldman.
12–14 September 2019, English Department, University of Basel.

8 July 2019, 9 pm, 159 Pioneer Street, Red Hook, Brooklyn, NYC

Created and directed by Mallory Catlette/Restless NYC, DECODER is a collaboration with tape DJ and sound Artist G Lucas Crane, performer Jim Findlay, video designer Keith Skretch, interaction designer Ryan Holsopple and Burroughs scholar Alex Wermer-Colan. Additional support from associate video designer Simon Harding.

DECODER: Ticket that Exploded reimagines the second book of Burroughs’ Nova Trilogy as a live performance of broken media hallucinations, living text cutup, and full frequency psychedelia spun from mangled audio tape. An alien presence is revealed as the sticky complicity of the inner double agent. Watch a live enacting of Burroughs’ prescient words taken to their terrible conclusions.

The Psychopathic Now! marks the 50th anniversary republication of Jeff Nuttall’s Bomb Culture by Strange Attractor Press. The book has been launched at the opening of the exhibition The Psychopathic Now! , organised by Strange Attractor Press in collaboration with Flat Time House, and curated by Douglas Field, Jay Jeff Jones and Jamie Sutcliffe. Gathering together many small press publications, fragments of charged ephemera, historical documents and correspondence, The Psychopathic Now! is a modest attempt to illustrate something of the complex milieu out of which Bomb Culture erupted.

23rd November – 15th December 2018
