Andrew McGuiness

Andrew McGuiness has research interests broadly centred on creativity in music
performance. Areas of investigation include perceptual representation, intentionality
and consciousness; motor control for music performance; subjectivity,
self-consciousness and the body; the nature of artistic creativity and comparison
of creative working processes in classical, jazz and popular musical styles. A separate
line of research is in computational modelling of brain processes underpinning
musical entrainment. He holds a Ph.D. in music and philosophy (Open University),
an M.Phil. in Electronic Arts (Australian National University) and a B.A. (Music)
in piano performance (Canberra School of Music).
