Anna Al-Araj is a PhD candidate in the Department of Polish Studies at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland. She has earned her Bachelor’s degree in comparative literature and Master’s degree in musicology from the Jagiellonian University. Her PhD thesis explores the minimal art and music as well as the relationship between literary works by Beat writers and musical pieces by American composers such like John Cage, Terry Riley, La Monte Young, Philip Glass or Steve Reich. Apart from Beat studies, her scholarly interests include contemporary Polish music and literature, counterculture, intermediality and comparative studies.
