Anna Słonina has earned her Master’s degree in 2007 from Casimir the Great University – Uniwersytet Kazimierza Wielkiego (UKW), in Bydgoszcz, Poland. In her MA thesis, The square Fifties and the hip Beats, she discussed the Beat Generation in relation to Michel Foucault’s conception of disciplinary mechanisms. She is currently working towards a PhD on women Beat writers, and teaches at UKW. She is also interested in feminism, “life-writing”, American film (especially in the 1950s), gender studies, and eco-criticism.
