Anouar El Younssi is an Assistant Professor of Arabic and Middle Eastern Studies at Oxford College of Emory University in the US. His primary scholarly work explores the wave of literary innovation in Arabic literatures, with a focus on Morocco and the Maghreb. His research seeks to consolidate critical work on literary modernity and the avant-garde in their Arabic manifestations. Also, he is interested in the intersections between the work of Moroccan writer Mohamed Choukri and that of the Beat Generation.Â
