Antonín Zita

Antonín Zita is currently an Assistant Professor at Masaryk University. His interest in the Beats is framed by a transcultural and transnational lens, and his primary focus is the reception of the Beats, namely that in Czechoslovakia and the Czech Republic. Other areas of research include the Beats’ position in the culture of the Cold War and the influence of ideology on the process of interpretation. The theoretical approach shaping his inquiry is based on Wolfgang Iser, Stanley Fish, or Pierre Bourdieu, among others. He has recently published his work How We Understand the Beats: The Reception of the Beat Generation in the United States and the Czech Lands (2018), which is available through the Masaryk University Press.
