Irene Polimante obtained a Masters degree in Anglo-American Literature at the University of Macerata in 2016, with a dissertation on two minor American performance poets: Tracie Morris and Edwin Torres.
In November 2017 she won a scholarship for the phd course in Modern Languages and Literature at University of Macerata. Her research project concerns the origins of sound poetry and its influences on the contemporary poetic panorama, using a semiotic perspective to analyze the transcultural issues of this poetic genre. Her main research interests include comparative literature, critical theory, interdisciplinary studies, visual studies, post-colonial studies and cultural studies.
