Joanna Pawlik

Joanna Pawlik is Lecturer in Art History at the University of Sussex (2014-). She has published widely on postwar American art and literature, surrealism, transnationalism and little magazines, amongst other topics. She taught in the Department of Art History and Visual Studies at the University of Manchester (2008-14), collaborating with the Centre for the Study of Surrealism and its Legacies on its project Surrealism and Queer Sexualities. She received a Leverhulme Early Career Fellowship in 2011, and the resulting monograph, Remade in America: Transnational Surrealism 1940-74 will be published with University of California Press in 2020. She co-edits the online journal Papers of Surrealism and is co-director of the doctoral school and research network SAVAnT (School of American Visual Art and Text), which seeks to foster dialogues between students and scholars working on American art in departments of Art History and American Studies.

Joanna Pawlik est chargée de cours en histoire de l’art à l’Université du Sussex depuis 2014. Elle a publié de nombreux ouvrages sur l’art et la littérature américaine d’après-guerre, le surréalisme, le transnationalisme, ainsi que de petits magazines. Elle a enseigné au département Art History and Visual Studies de l’université de Manchester (2008-14), en collaboration avec le « Centre d’étude du surréalisme et de son héritage » (Centre for the Study of Surrealism and its Legacies) sur le projet « Surrealism and Queer Sexualities ». Elle coédite le journal en ligne Papers of Surrealism et est codirectrice de l’école doctorale et du réseau de recherche SAVAnT (School of American Visual Art and Text), qui vise à favoriser le dialogue entre étudiants et universitaires travaillant sur l’art américain, notamment dans les départements d’histoire de l’art et d’études américaines.
