I mainly work on Buddhism/Orientalism and the Beats, and I’m writing a biography of Maxine Hong Kingston. I’ve written articles on Gary Snyder, Joanne Kyger, Allen Ginsberg, Jack Kerouac, and Buddhist film festivals. I also have a book on Tibetan self-immolation, understood through the lens of Kenneth Burke’s “dramatism” system.
