Katie has just started her PhD research at Kings College London after a MSc at MIT in Comparative Media Studies and an MA at the University of Glasgow in English Literature and Politics, Joint Honours.

Her doctoral project examines works by Burroughs and John Waters in order to ask what it means when obscenity becomes queer. She is particularly interested in how both authors navigate the imposition of censorship to build communities of readers as well as how they use formal literary and cinematic techniques to queer the body and body politik.
