Matt Theado

Matt Theado is a professor of American literature and culture at Kobe City University of Foreign Studies in Kobe, Japan. He is author of Understanding Jack Kerouac (2000) and The Beats: A Literary Reference (2003). He has published numerous articles on Beat Generation topics, including “Kerouac and Country Music” in Kerouac on Record: A Literary Soundtrack (2018); and “Revisions of Kerouac: The Long, Strange Trip of the On the Road Typescripts” in What’s Your Road, Man?: Critical Essays on Jack Kerouac’s On the Road (2008). He currently serves as book review editor for the Journal of Beat Studies.
