Film Director and Producer, “Language is a Virus from Outer Space”.
Neville Farmer is a film-maker, composer, singer, musical director, scriptwriter, author, playwright, songwriter, journalist, magazine editor, television producer and broadcaster.
He produced the award-winning TV travel series, Globe Trekker as well as being its Musical Director for over 14 years. His TV productions have been broadcast by the BBC, Channel 4, Discovery Channel and others in over 60 countries. He scripted the World Music Awards from Monte Carlo for several years and had a weekly slot on BBC Radio London. He has directed a number of short films and music videos – including one shot entirely on an iPhone for bluesman, Gwyn Ashton.
He co-scored the music for the award-winning Western feature film, “West Of Thunder” with his transatlantic band, The Fishkillers, who also perform in the movie. He has sung with Robert Plant, XTC, Karl Wallinger, Simon Emmerson, Nigel Kennedy, John Otway, Kristin Diable, Deborah Bonham and Dave Edmunds, among others. He has worked on projects for Peter Gabriel, Sir George Martin, Richard Niles and Mick Fleetwood. His songs have been recorded and published in Canada, Russia, Japan, Hungary, Norway and the USA.
His play about a meeting between Jimi Hendrix and G F Handel was produced in Handel’s house in Mayfair and received plaudits from Sir Nicholas Hytner and Hendrix’s girlfriend, Cathy Etchingham. More recently, it was performed at the Queens Open Studios theatre festival in New York.
He is the best-selling author of XTC – Song Stories (Hyperion Books) and his biography of the bandleader, Bert Kaempfert was commissioned for the Songwriters Hall Of Fame Museum in New York. He has written for dozens of publications, including Billboard, Music Week and the New York Times travel supplement.
Neville is currently the Editor of the controversial on-line publication, BULLITThd.com. He has danced on tables with Patrick Swayze, roadied for Kate Bush (1979) and played table tennis with Woody Harrelson. He even stood for Parliament in 2010… and lost.
