Pierre-Antoine Pellerin is Associate Professor of English Language at the Université Jean Moulin – Lyon 3. He is currently finishing a doctoral thesis on the experience and representation of masculinity in Jack Kerouac’s Duluoz Legend at the University Paris 3 – Sorbonne Nouvelle. In September 2010, he co-organized a two-day international conference at the Sorbonne Nouvelle, “Performing the Invisible: Masculinities in the English-Speaking World”, and has published several articles analyzing Beat writings from a gender perspective, notably “The Soft American, Jack Kerouac’s Muscular Prose, and Cold War Poetics in Vanity of Duluoz” (GRATT-Online #10, September 2011) and “Jack Kerouac’s Ecopoetics: Domesticity, Wilderness, and Masculine Fantasies of Animality in The Dharma Bums and Desolation Angels” (to be published in Transatlantica).
