Samantha Evans

Samantha graduated from the University of St Andrews in 2016. For her dissertation, she created a 45 minute documentary on the international impact of the first reading of “Howl” at the 6 Poet at 6 Gallery Reading. She interviewed John Burnside, Barry Miles, Steven Taylor, Joanne Kyger, Anne Waldman, Clark Coolidge, Thurston Moore, and Michael Horovitz, spent a summer at the Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics at Naropa University, and went on two road trips as research for her documentary. She is extremely interested in the cultural and literary aspect of the beats, the philosophy and the way it transcended the globe and infiltrated mainstream culture.
