Valerie Goodman

Valerie Goodman is a poet and academic originally from Colorado, now living in Edinburgh, Scotland. A former student of Naropa University, she has received her MA (Hons) from the University of Edinburgh with double honours in English Literature and Scottish Ethnology. Her undergraduate dissertation aimed to contribute to the growing corpus of academic study on the female presence in the Beat canon and the importance of Buddhist practice in the work of Diane di Prima and Anne Waldman. She is currently undertaking a MScR in American Literature at the University of Edinburgh. Her research is focussing specifically on ecofeminist themes in the work of four female Beat poets.

Valerie Goodman est une poète et une universitaire originaire du Colorado qui vit actuellement à Édimbourg, en Écosse. Ancienne étudiante à la Naropa University, elle a obtenu une maîtrise (avec les honneurs) avec double mention en littérature anglaise et en ethnologie écossaise de l’Université d’Édimbourg. Sa thèse de doctorat visait à contribuer au nombre grandissant d’études académiques sur la présence féminine au sein de la Beat Generation et à l’importance de la pratique du bouddhisme dans les travaux de Diane di Prima et d’Anne Waldman. Elle entreprend actuellement un Master de recherche en littérature américaine à l’Université d’Edimbourg. Ses recherches portent sur des thèmes éco-féministes dans le travail de quatre femmes poètes Beat.
