Christine Roth

Professor Christine Roth teaches English and directs the graduate program in English at University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. She has done extensive work in nineteenth-century studies (her most recent essay being “The Zoocentric Ecology of Thomas Hardy’s Poetry” in Victorian Writers and the Environment, Routledge, 2016) and received the Nineteenth Century Studies Association’s President’s Award, the organization’s highest honor, in 2015. She has taught undergraduate and graduate courses on Beat Generation writers, especially Allen Ginsberg and Gregory Corso, but it was the research for her essay “The Narrative Promise: Redesigning History in La Gazette du Vieux Paris” (CEA Critic, journal of the College English Association, 2016) that led her to her current project, which focuses on transhistoricism in writing by expatriates in Paris.
