James Riley is Fellow and College Lecturer in English Literature at Girton College, University of Cambridge. He writes on contemporary literature, film and underground culture. Recent publications include a two volume edition of writings and essays on the work of Peter Whitehead. He is currently at work on *Playback Hex*, a study of William Burroughs and the tape recorder. James is the co-director of The Alchemical Landscape, a project dealing with magic and geography. He also blogs at residual-noise.blogspot.co.uk.
