Joep Bremmers

Journalist, editor and translator Joep Bremmers worked as editor with Dutch poet, writer and journalist Simon Vinkenoog (1928-2009) and collected his massive volume of collected poetry Vinkenoog Verzameld in 2008. In 2012 he finished the work he and Vinkenoog started together: Howl, Kaddisj en andere gedichten, a collection of Vinkenoog’s translations of Ginsbergs poetry since 1965 and about 30 new translations. Bremmers is currently researching the friendship of Ginsberg and Vinkenoog and also has a strong interest in the Master Musicians of Jahjouka, a traditional Moroccan ensemble that was first ‘discovered’ in 1950 by Brion Gysin and made famous by Brian Jones’ recording, The Pipes of Pan.
