Melanie Keomany

Melanie Keomany is a Master of Arts candidate in the School of Culture and Communication at the University of Melbourne, Australia.  Her thesis explores representations of Mexico, Latin America, and India in selected works by Jack Kerouac, William S. Burroughs, and Allen Ginsberg alongside Octavio Paz’s seminal examination of Mexican identity, El laberinto de la soldedad, and poetry Paz wrote while living in India.  Her first article, “‘The raw body of America’: Landscape, Embodiment, and the Americas in Jack Kerouac’s On the Road and Tristessa” was recently published in Volume 9, Issue 10 of the International Journal of the Humanities.
