I am currently a MLitt: Literature research student at Newcastle University. My research focuses upon the works of William S. Burroughs, with my current dissertation project, “Serving Up Our Tongues”, examining the cut-up’s in conjunction with Lacanian psychoanalysis and Derridean deconstruction in order to better understand the possible implications of viewing AI as an author.
My previous projects have all focused upon the works of the Beats, ‘The Word Virus is a Parasite: Deconstructing William Burroughs Cut-up Fiction’ examined the cut-up works through the lenses of Jacques Derrida’s “Deconstruction” and Michel Serres’ ‘Le Parisite’.
My studies will continue at Newcastle with a PhD where my project seeks to further delve into the possible connections of Burroughs’ “Word Virus” in connection with modern technological progress.
