René van der Voort (1951-2026)

The EBSN were extremely saddened to hear of the passing of our friend René van der Voort in April. We’ve now published, in our Voices section, Jaap van der Bent’s beautifully judged, personally informed account of Rene’s life and work, along with Ian MacFadyen’s tribute that provides the social historical context of Rene’s Counter Culture Chronicles with details of the tapes and related materials produced and their importance for scholars and students of European Beat culture. 
The two tributes, we believe, will be of interest to members of the EBSN and will validate Rene’s position in, and contributions to the EBSN.
